At an enormous scale of over 1000sqm, the ground plane mural for Newstead Central is a geometric, typographic homage to the Newstead precinct. Arranged in a circular ‘nest’ the letters are treated a nautical flags, reflecting the sites heritage.

The purpose of the mural was to create an engaging, disruptive use of the slab that would house the fourth tower of a multi-building development that was at the time, on hold. Rather than gaze down at an empty slab of concrete, the developer saw an opportunity to create something interesting for residents to engage with and talk about within their community.

At the street frontage, two large pillars are wrapped in the letters creating a visual connection between the ground and the development above.
