Katastrofa

We were invited to create a powerful, new visual identity for Melbourne-based street-wear label, Katastrofa. The brief was to acknowledge the Polish cultural heritage behind the designer, while also including a contemporary hip hop edge. This was achieved by juxtaposing visually opposing typography, layered textural elements and a suite of well known hip hop lyrics.

The brand communicates reminders for everyday life – suggesting we ‘don’t cry over spilt milk’ for example. Not unlike Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five ‘trying not to lose their heads’, Katastrofa inspires positivity in a brutal, post-punk aesthetic.
