The Boundary Hotel

The Boundary Hotel is an iconic pub in Brisbane’s West End. We were engaged to design and execute the wayfinding system as part of it’s significant refurbishment and repositioning that includes multiple eateries and bars. The primary objective this wayfinding project was to inform and direct patrons – particularly as the redevelopment saw an introduction of several new rooms, restaurants, bars and seating areas that didn’t exist previously. Despite the need for effective functionality, we still saw an opportunity to adopt a style that tips it’s hat to the heritage of the site.

Sourcing the right typeface for this project was key. There was no decoration, no supporting brand elements – just type in it’s purest form. Scripted type, applied in a street-style stencil was the chosen creative direction. The combination of old meeting new achieved a balanced end result suited to the place design and general experience of having a few quiet ones at The Boundary.
